Ejections

Posted Wed Oct 27, 2010 - 03:59 PM

Even though the game between the Crusaders & Hawks was forfeited, the penalties will still be counted.

Jamie Feenstra of the Hawks received 3 minor penalties in this game. This is the first time that this has occurred this season for Jamie, so he is okay to play in the next game.

Dan Dykshoorn also received 3 minor penalties in the game while playing for the Crusaders. Dan happens to be the in-eligible player that caused the Crusaders to forfeit the game. His penalties have been counted, but he will still not be allowed to play until he is officially added to the Crusaders' roster on November 1, 2010.

Week 3

Posted Wed Oct 27, 2010 - 03:44 PM

In the early game, the Flyers came out on top by beating the Stars 3-1. For the second game in a row, the Stars found themselves tied 1-1 late into the third period, but with less than six minutes to go, Steve Capelle scored to put the Flyers up 2-1. The Flyers added an empty net goal to seal the deal.

The middle game between the Crusaders & Hawks was forfeited by the Crusaders because of use of an in-eligible player. The Hawks will take the win as a 1-0 score. The player stats will not be counted for this game, except for games played and penalties. Goalie stats will not be counted either.

The late game was a close one between the Omegas & Cougars. The Omegas held on to their lead after a late come-back attempt by the Cougars for a 4-2 victory. Mark Zylstra scored twice in the Omegas' win and earns himself this week's Player of the Week honours.

Week 2

I apologize for being so late with this update.

In the early game, the Omegas got their first win of the season by beating the Hawks 4-1. Aaron Boelens got the Hawks off to a good start by scoring early in his second consecutive game. The Omegas were once again led by another two-goal performance by Lance Ross. Lance also got an assist. Zach VanReenen got three assists in the Omegas' win.

The middle game saw the Flyers continuing where they left off last week. Ryan Cross got two goals & two assists while Kev Karelsen got three assists. The final score was the Flyers beating the Cougars 5-2.

We had our first Overtime game of the season in the late game between the Stars & Crusaders. Goaltenders Josh Tamminga & Risser Wierenga were both on their game and held the game scoreless until newcomer Scott Park scored late in the second for the Crusaders. The Stars tied it up late in the third period and appeared to go up 2-1 with 20 seconds to go in regulation, but had the goal disallowed. Scott Park scored again in overtime to win the game 2-1 for the Crusaders. For scoring his first two goals in our league in a tight game like this, he wins this week's Player of the Week honours.

New Scorekeeper

Posted Tue Oct 12, 2010 - 04:37 PM

As some of you may have noticed, we have a new scorekeeper for our league. His name is Joe VanReenen. He seems to be catching on quickly.

Last week's games were all fairly civilized. Let's all keep this up because it really helped out Joe in his new role as scorekeeper. We don't want him to get in a situation over his head just yet. He's still learning.

Thanks,
Terry

Week 1

Posted Tue Oct 12, 2010 - 04:26 PM

Well, week 1 is in the books.

The early game saw a re-match of last season's finalists. The Crusaders were able to get the upper hand in a "nail-biter" by beating the Omegas 3-2. Lance Ross, sporting a brand new white bucket, scored both of the Omegas' goals in the losing cause. Jordan DeBoer led the way for the Crusaders by scoring two goals and adding an assist.

In the middle game, the Flyers showed that they may a force to reckon with this season. They were able to beat the Hawks 8-2. Tyler Veenenedaal scored twice for the Flyers, while the line of Kev Karelsen, Matt Kreeft, & newcomer Ryan Cross got three points each in the win. Ryan earns this season's first Player of the Week honours by scoring a hat-trick. Unless I'm mistaken, these are his first three goals in our league. Aaron Boelens of the Hawks also scored his first goal in our league.

The late game saw the Stars beating the Cougars 7-2. Mike MacDermid & Curt Moesker each scored twice in the Stars' victory, while Greg Wierenga & Jonny Wagenaar got four points each. Dallas Fraser of the Stars scored his first goal and added an assist in his first game in the league.
