This week's early game saw the Hawks beat the Stars 7-2. For the second week in a row, the Hawks' line of Dave VanOostveen and the Huizinga boys had a great game. Kyle Huizinga got a goal and three assists. Jack Huizinga got two goals and an assist. For the second consecutive game, Dave VanOostveen scored a hat-trick. He also got two assists.
In the middle game, the Omegas got back to their winning ways by beating the Crusaders 7-3. Jeff VanderSlagt of the Omegas scored his first two goals of the season, including the game winner. Herb Zylstra Jr. got three assists; two of which were scored by his brother Matt.
If you're ever watching a Flyers' game, don't leave until it's over! For the second consecutive week, the Flyers broke the hearts of their opponents by scoring a big goal late in the game. The Cougars looked like they were in control of the game by getting out to an early lead. They were up 3-1 at the end of the first period and 6-3 early on in the third period. The Flyers poured it on in the third period and completed the come-back with a 8-7 victory.
This was a game with a bunch of stand-out performances from both teams. O.J. Deelstra of the Cougars scored twice and added two assists. Dave Vangorkum scored a great end-to-ender for the Cougars, and Derek Bouma did the same for the Flyers. This was one of the two goals that Derek scored along with his four assists. Kev Karelsen scored twice and added four assists, but the Player of the Week honours goes to his dad, Sid Karelsen, who scored a hat-trick, including the game winner with about a minute to go in third. He also got an assist on one of Kev's goals.
