The early game between Omegas & Stars saw the Omegas skate away to a 4-1 victory. Once again the Stars found themselves in a game that was closer than the score would indicate. The teams went scoreless until half way through the second when the Omegas drew first blood. They followed up with two more goals by the half way point of the third. The Stars were finally able to score a powerplay goal in the third, but the Omegas spoiled the Stars' comeback with another goal in the last two minutes.
The Ice Dogs continued with their winning ways by beating the Flyers 6-4 in the middle game. The Ice Dogs looked like they were going to run away with it when they got off to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first and a 6-2 lead after the second. The Flyers made a game of it in the third when Matt VanMarum & Matt Kreeft each scored their second goals of the game. Both players also added an assist. Steve Capelle also had a three point game for the Flyers with three assists. Jordan DeBoer had a three point night for the IceDogs, but Joe DeBoer earns the honours of being one of the co-winners of the Player of the Week with his three goals and an assist.
I would have to say that this week's late game between the Hawks & Cattle Barons was probably the best game I've seen so far this season. It was entertaining all the way through with the scoring going back and forth. The Hawks came away with a narrow 5-4 victory thanks to Dave VanOostveen's second goal of the game. He also added an assist. Mike Melo had a three point game for the Cattle Barons, but the other co-winner of the Player of the Week is Jeremiah Winia who got a hat-trick in the Cattle Barons' loss.
