The Omegas beat the Flyers 5-2 in the early game. Fred VanReenen Jr.earns the Player of the Game honours by leading the Omegas with three goals & an assist. Herb Zylstra assisted on two of Fred's goals, while Ryan Cross & Derek Bouma each had two points in the Flyers' loss.

In the middle game, the Hawks showed why they are leading the league by beating the Ice Dogs 7-3. Dave VanOostveen led the way for the Hawks by scoring three goals and is the Player of the Game once again. Rob Nutma also had three points for the Hawks, while Pat Dam, Nick DeBoer, & Aaron Boelens each had two points.

The Cattle Barons won their fourth game in a row by beating the Stars 6-2 in the late game. Jeremiah Winia got four points in the Cattle Barons' win, but the Player of the Game is Jeff Vanderdeen who had five points for the Cattle Barons, including a hat-trick. Half-Way Point

Its hard to believe, but we're already at the half-way point of our regular season.
Parody in our league may never have been as obvious as it is this season. Only four points separate the top five teams.
The Hawks currently sit in first place with 14 points. The Flyers are in second place with 13 points. The Cattle Barons & Ice Dogs are tied for third place with 12 points each. The Omegas sit in fifth with 10 points.
And then there's the Stars.
For the most part, they're losing close games, but keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard. They're not out of it yet, but they've got their work cut out for them.

You might've noticed that I have stopped posting the penalty minutes on this website. This is because we were finding problems with players "taunting" other players that were nearing the 30 minute plateau in penalties. I wish that this wasn't the case, because it sure causes me a lot of extra work keeping each team rep informed of which of their team's players are nearing the 30 minute plateau.

Week 10

Posted Wed Dec 12, 2012 - 01:31 PM

This is the review of the games played on December 7.

The early game was a tight one between the Hawks & the Stars, but the Hawks came out on top with a 3-1 victory. The Stars looked good off the start with new player, Jos Smids, scoring in the first shift of the game, but by the end of the first period, the Hawks came back to hold a 2-1 lead. That is the way it stayed until the Hawks added an empty netter in the dying seconds of the third. Both goalies deserve credit for keeping it a low scoring game, so we'll let Mike Ward of the Hawks & Risser Wierenga of the Stars share the Player of the Game honours.

The middle game between the Flyers & Cattle Barons was another great game with the Cattle Barons winning it 5-4 in overtime. It was a back & forth game all the way through. It ended in overtime with Eric Bakker scoring his third goal of the game. He earns the Player of the Game award with his hat-trick.

In the late game, the Omegas beat the Ice Dogs 4-1. This one was also a pretty close game until Jeff VanderSlagt scored two quick goals for the Omegas late in the second period to make it 4-1. He also got an assist on an earlier goal, so we'll give him the nod for the Player of the Game. Chad VanReenen also had three points in the Omegas' victory.
