Week 10

Posted Wed Dec 12, 2012 - 01:31 PM

This is the review of the games played on December 7.

The early game was a tight one between the Hawks & the Stars, but the Hawks came out on top with a 3-1 victory. The Stars looked good off the start with new player, Jos Smids, scoring in the first shift of the game, but by the end of the first period, the Hawks came back to hold a 2-1 lead. That is the way it stayed until the Hawks added an empty netter in the dying seconds of the third. Both goalies deserve credit for keeping it a low scoring game, so we'll let Mike Ward of the Hawks & Risser Wierenga of the Stars share the Player of the Game honours.

The middle game between the Flyers & Cattle Barons was another great game with the Cattle Barons winning it 5-4 in overtime. It was a back & forth game all the way through. It ended in overtime with Eric Bakker scoring his third goal of the game. He earns the Player of the Game award with his hat-trick.

In the late game, the Omegas beat the Ice Dogs 4-1. This one was also a pretty close game until Jeff VanderSlagt scored two quick goals for the Omegas late in the second period to make it 4-1. He also got an assist on an earlier goal, so we'll give him the nod for the Player of the Game. Chad VanReenen also had three points in the Omegas' victory.

Week 9

Posted Wed Dec 12, 2012 - 01:08 PM

This is a quick summary of the games played on November 30.

In the early game, the Cattle Barons beat the Hawks by the score of 3-0. Steve Pastoor is the Player of the Game earning the first shut-out of the season for any team. I might be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that this was Steve's first shut-out in his career in our league. Brady DeBoer & Andrew Noorloos also had a strong game with each of them getting two points.

The Omegas beat the Stars in the middle game 4-0. Pete Lindhout gets the Player of the Game honours for getting the shut-out. Zach VanReenen, Ian VanReenen, Lance Ross, Mark Zylstra, & Kyle Roest all had two points each for the Omegas.

The Flyers beat the Ice Dogs 8-5 in the late game. Duncan Vanderwal & Greg Bork each had three points for the Ice Dogs, but we'll give the Player of the Game honours to Kev Karelsen of the Flyers. He had a four point night.
