Finals - Game 1 |
Game 1 of the Finals series between the Omegas & Hawks was a great playoff hockey game. The teams went scoreless in the first period. Kyle Huizinga was the first one to put the puck in the net, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead early in the second period. Six minutes later Karsten Berg tied it up by scoring for the Omegas. With 4:24 to go in the second period, Dave Vanoostveen scored to give the Hawks the lead again.
When Clint Schenk scored with 12:45 to go in the third, things weren't looking too promising for the Omegas in this tight game. However, with 9:03 to go in the third, Karsten scored again for the Omegas to bring the score to 3-2 in favour of the Hawks.
The rest of the game saw the Omegas pouring it on to score the tying goal, but the Hawks wouldn't have it and they scored an empty-netter to seal the deal.
Game 2 is tonight (Saturday, March 18th at 8:30pm at the Clearwater Arena.
Will the Hawks be able to sweep the mighty Omegas and take home the Championship Trophy tonight? Or will the Omegas come back with a win to extent the series to a third game?
