Misconducts & Suspensions

Posted Tue Dec 13, 2016 - 06:13 PM

The early game between the Albinos & the Ice Dogs was a tough one to watch as a Convenor of a Church Hockey League.
We had a few incidents, and here's what came out of it:

Duncan Vanderwal (Ice Dogs) was handed a major penalty for roughing. To add to that, he was also given a gross misconduct.
He has been suspended for two games for receiving a major penalty. Plus, he has been suspended for an additional three games for receiving a gross misconduct. This means that Duncan has been suspended for five games in total. He is not eligible to play again until Friday, February 3, 2017. He is also NOT ELIGIBLE to fill in for any team as a substitute goalie during this suspension.

Jordan DeBoer (Ice Dogs) was given a "10 minute" misconduct in this game as well. This was the first time that Jordan received a "10 minute" misconduct this season, so he has not been suspended for that. However, later in the game, Jordan received a gross misconduct. For this, Jordan has been suspended for three games. The next game that he is eligible to play again is on Saturday, January 7, 2017.

In the game between the Ice Dogs & Hawks, Clint Schenk (Hawks) received a "10 minute" misconduct. This was the first "10 minute" misconduct that Clint received this season, so he was not suspended for it. However, in doing so, Clint has reached the 30 minute mark in accumulated penalties. For this, he has been suspended for one game.

Ejection

Chad VanReenen (Omegas) received three minors in the game against the Flyers. He was ejected from the game for doing so. This was the first time that this has occurred for Chad this season, so he will be okay to play in the next game.

Appeal

The Hawks appealed the two game suspension of Scott Barneveld. The teams voted on whether to keep the suspension at two games or to change it to just a single game suspension. The decision that came from this vote was to keep the suspension at two games.

We had an incident in last week's game between the Albinos & Hawks.
Corey Moesker (Albinos), Scott Barneveld (Hawks), & Clint Schenk (Hawks) were each handed a major penalty for fighting. Each of these players have been suspended for two games.
Scott & Clint will be eligible to play again on December 2nd. The Albinos have their "bye" week on November 25th, so Corey will not be eligible to play again until December 9th.
