Misconducts

Posted Sat Jan 14, 2012 - 05:46 AM

Corey Moesker & Joe DeBoer were each given a misconduct for "fighting" in the middle game between the Stars & IceDogs. This is the first "fighting" misconduct for both of these players this season, so they are suspended for their next two games. If either of these players receives another "fighting" misconduct this season, then he will be suspended for a minimum of five games.

Week 15

Posted Sat Jan 14, 2012 - 05:39 AM

The Hawks fell 6-3 to the Flyers in the early game. Things looked promising early for the Hawks when Dave VanOostveen scored in the first minute of the game. The Flyers came back by scoring five unanswered goals and cruised to victory. Kev Karelsen once again had a strong game for the Flyers with three points.

The middle game between the IceDogs & Stars was a pretty good one if I do say so myself. The IceDogs clinched a playoff berth with a 4-2 win, but it was a close one all the way through. Both teams played strong defensively. Matt Tamminga's goal halfway through the third stood as the game winner. Joe DeBoer's second goal of the game with a few minutes to go sealed the deal.

The late game saw the Omegas beat the short-staffed Cougars by the score of 7-1. The usual suspects once again led the scoring for the Omegas. Kalen Hellinga had a three point game. Karsten Berg had six points and will share Player of the Week honours with his teammate, Jeff VanderSlagt who had four points. The Omegas continue to win by going with the "experienced" goaltenders as Case Zylstra had another solid performance between the pipes.

Last Chance

Posted Wed Jan 11, 2012 - 12:51 PM

This is just a reminder that this week's games (Friday, January 13) will be the last chance for any player that has not yet played a game this season. After this week's games, any player that has not yet played this season will be removed from his team's roster and will not be allowed to play until next season. Goaltenders are an exception to this rule.

Week 14

Posted Wed Jan 11, 2012 - 12:44 PM

This week's early game saw the Omegas rebound from their first loss of the season and beat the Hawks 8-2. Matt Zylstra and Zach VanReenen each had a three point game for the Omegas, while Karsten Berg & Kalen Hellinga each had four points. Case Zylstra picked up the win in his first game in net this season.

In the middle game, the IceDogs beat the Cougars 11-4. Chris Sipkens scored twice in the Cougars' loss. The IceDogs had multiple players with strong games. Adrian Roelands got three points. Matt DeBoer had four points. Duncan Vanderwal might've had the Player of the Week with his five point performance if it wasn't for Joe DeBoer notching seven points in the game. Joe earned the honours by scoring five goals and helping on two others.

The late game between the Stars & Flyers saw the Flyers coming away with a 6-3 win over the short-staffed Stars. Dale Moesker scored all three goals for the Stars while Ryan Cross & Kev Karelsen also had three points each for the Flyers. The Stars gave it their best effort to make it a closer game, but Rick Jones made some huge saves in the third period to seal the victory.

Ejections

Posted Thu Jan 05, 2012 - 12:58 PM

Joe DeBoer of the IceDogs was ejected from the early game against the Omegas because he received three minor penalties in the game. This is the first time that this has occurred for Joe this season, so he is okay to play in the next game.

Due to an error on the scoresheet from the IceDogs game on December 23, Duncan Vanderwal was mistakenly ejected from the game. He actually only received two minor penalties in the game. His ejection has been erased from the books.
I appreciate the cooperation by Duncan and the IceDogs without arguing it at the time of the incident. Sorry for the trouble and the misunderstanding.
