Just a reminder that there is no games tonight due to the SilverStick Tournament going on this weekend. We'll be back in action again next Friday, January 27.
We have reached the 15 game point now. That means that anybody who has not yet played a game this season will be removed from your team's roster and will not be allowed to play for the rest of this season. Goaltenders are an exception to this rule.
Corey Moesker & Joe DeBoer were each given a misconduct for "fighting" in the middle game between the Stars & IceDogs. This is the first "fighting" misconduct for both of these players this season, so they are suspended for their next two games. If either of these players receives another "fighting" misconduct this season, then he will be suspended for a minimum of five games.
The Hawks fell 6-3 to the Flyers in the early game. Things looked promising early for the Hawks when Dave VanOostveen scored in the first minute of the game. The Flyers came back by scoring five unanswered goals and cruised to victory. Kev Karelsen once again had a strong game for the Flyers with three points. The middle game between the IceDogs & Stars was a pretty good one if I do say so myself. The IceDogs clinched a playoff berth with a 4-2 win, but it was a close one all the way through. Both teams played strong defensively. Matt Tamminga's goal halfway through the third stood as the game winner. Joe DeBoer's second goal of the game with a few minutes to go sealed the deal. The late game saw the Omegas beat the short-staffed Cougars by the score of 7-1. The usual suspects once again led the scoring for the Omegas. Kalen Hellinga had a three point game. Karsten Berg had six points and will share Player of the Week honours with his teammate, Jeff VanderSlagt who had four points. The Omegas continue to win by going with the "experienced" goaltenders as Case Zylstra had another solid performance between the pipes.
This is just a reminder that this week's games (Friday, January 13) will be the last chance for any player that has not yet played a game this season. After this week's games, any player that has not yet played this season will be removed from his team's roster and will not be allowed to play until next season. Goaltenders are an exception to this rule. Various icons used from the Silk Icons library. |
